Happy Holidays!

Since it is a time for those fortunate enough to spend time with loved ones, we would like to wish all of our customers Happy Holidays as they truly are family and friends.   We would also like to extend our thoughts to all of those serving in the military and who won't get to spend the holiday with their families.

Happy Thanksgiving!

The new PatriotII is coming together, quite literally.  The owner was here just last week to see her progress.  The cockpit liner is in along with fuel tanks, the head, hanging locker, vberth, and galley cabinets.  The windshield has now been permanently attached to the cabin top as have the bow rail and varnished teak hand rails.

It has truly been a busy fall.  Most of our crew has been working on the new boat full time with a few of them heading out to haul boats for the winter.

We are thankful for the busy year that we've had which we wouldn't have had without our customers and their loyalty!  Thank You!

She's looking like a Boat!

Progress on the new boat this week included finishing the stringers and cross bracing as well as adding bulkheads to the hull.  As you can see below, the top deck is fitted onto the hull - not for good just yet though.  The boat has gone into the oven for post cure before it will come back into the shop.

Along with finishing all of the teak accents, they've been preparing the windshield for sealer and varnish as well.

Teak Teak Teak

Along with working on the stringers and cross bracing in the hull this past week, we’ve been working on the teak accents.  Our Patriots come standard with varnished teak hand rails, toe rails and varnished teak cap.  This Patriot II will have all of the above plus a teak deck and varnished teak windshield and coamings.  Lots of Teak!

Fall is making the Approach

Indoor Storage
We've already had several requests for winter work as well as storage.  Last winter season we were over capacity resulting in some of the boats being stored in the shop.  We are asking that if you would like to store with us to please let us know!

Steady Progress!

New Patriot II

The Patriot II incorporates a change to the hull - we've put a plug in the mold (shown below) to create a shallow tunnel.  This will allow for a flatter shaft angle thereby giving it the ability to navigate shallower waters.  The patriot currently draws 34", we're approximating the Patriot II to draw 24".  A difference that matters in many of the Bay's shallower waters.

Re-Powers

It seems like it's a re-power kind of season.  The guys are working on three different re-powers right now.  The first is an old wooden boat which along with a re-power is getting a paint job and new wood decking with varnish.

The second boat getting re-powered is a 1976 glass boat which is currently taken apart for paint.  Once it goes back together, it'll get re-powered with a new Honda.

The third boat getting a re-power is a proline.  While not much is needed for this boat on the repair side, she'll get a good thorough detail complete with buff & wax to make her look new!

As One Boat Leaves, Another Boat Comes In!

If you've been following Jeff and Dorie, you probably know that they're back in Maryland as is Dorie Leigh.  Pete picked Dorie Leigh, the Patriot 29', up from Plattsburgh, NY on Wednesday to bring her to Denton before cleaning her up and delivering her back to her home in St. Michaels on Friday.  They completely enjoyed their trip through Lake Champlain which as they noted several times is far from what they're used to in the Chesapeake Bay.

If you haven't been following Jeff & Dorie, you'll want to check out the cruise they took in their 29' this summer here.

We sold another one of our brokerage boats last week - Cove Cruiser's new home is in Annapolis.  The new owner is a good friend of the previous owner and couldn't wait to take her out!

Where's Dorie Leigh?

On Sunday they went to the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum which they said was "first rate" with "extensive exhibits explaining the naval battles from both the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812".

Later that night they had dinner just two tables away from former Governor George Patacki!  They spent 2 nights in an Inn in Essex, NY during the Holiday for Independence Day which gave them great seats for the parade.

They've seen much deeper waters than they would here on the Chesapeake Bay along with a complete change in weather patterns and change in scenery.
