Where's Dorie Leigh?

On Sunday they went to the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum which they said was "first rate" with "extensive exhibits explaining the naval battles from both the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812".

Later that night they had dinner just two tables away from former Governor George Patacki!  They spent 2 nights in an Inn in Essex, NY during the Holiday for Independence Day which gave them great seats for the parade.

They've seen much deeper waters than they would here on the Chesapeake Bay along with a complete change in weather patterns and change in scenery.

Dorie Leigh

Dorie Leigh in West Haverstraw, NY

A couple of Patriot 29 owners are helping to prove that the Chesapeake Bay isn't the only place they can enjoy their boat.  Jeff and Dorie are on a month long cruise in their 29' MathewsBros Patriot which began in West Haverstraw, NY on the Hudson River.  They have since cruised north on the Hudson through several locks (which was an experience!) into Lake Champlain and say they are having the time of their lives.  The best part is that anyone can follow them on their cruise because Jeff has been blogging a little bit about each day!  He mentioned today how comfortable they are in their boat, "Dorie’s friends are probably asking what it feels like now that we are 11 days into the trip and haven’t slept off the boat yet?  Even with the rain, life is terrific.  We couldn’t be more comfortable."

One of the services that we provide is delivering your boat to wherever you would like to meet it for your boating season and/or cruise.  Jeff and Dorie took us up on that offer and Pete trailered Dorie Leigh to the marina in West Haverstraw just a few days before Jeff and Dorie met her there.

If you would like to follow Jeff and Dorie, you can either follow them in chronological order or from the most recent day backwards.

Deliveries, Service Calls, Exhaust Refits - You Name It

We've had a little bit of everything this week.  We've delivered a boat to her owner for the summer season after having to replace the manifolds and risers.  The guys are cleaning up another boat to head out for the season next week.  We've had a couple of service calls for people who have had some issues out on the water.  On thursday we sent a 33' Sea Ray back to New York after sprucing her up from being damaged in superstorm Sandy.  Today we're getting another boat from New York to repair some damages that were incurred during Sandy as well.  Not to mention we're making steady progress on a new Patriot 29!

Service Calls

Not only do we repair boats here at the shop, we travel too!  Our customers call us when they feel something not quite right on their boat and/or if they've been able to diagnose the problem themselves.  Whether it's your windlass that's not wanting to work, a gauge that's not working, or a bilge pump issue, etc., feel free to call us and we'll check it out as soon as we are able.
